Internship Program

Program Objective:
The purpose of the internship is to provide accounting students with the opportunity to acquire practical experience in a professional setting.

Program Directors:
The program is overseen by senior audit and management staff, Natalie Oud and Kimberly Watts. Audit Partner, Andrew Castillo will be providing partner oversight to the program.

Natalie Oud has more than five years of accounting and consulting experience, with three years being in the healthcare industry performing various audit and assurance services. Natalie has been with Durbin and Company, LLP since July 2020 and primarily focuses on financial statement audits and reporting, and single audits. Natalie is a licensed Certified Public Accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, and is a graduate of Tarleton State University.

Kimberly Watts joined Durbin & Company, LLP in January 2020 and is the Executive Assistant for the Richardson office, overseeing all administrative responsibilities, managing projects, and providing task-oriented support to partners as well as the audit and reimbursement departments. Kimberly has over 20 years of experience in healthcare accounting.

Andrew Castillo has over 18 years of experience in auditing and consulting; providing services in multiple industries, including 13 years in healthcare. Andrew joined Durbin & Company, LLP in 2010 and is an audit partner in the Richardson office; primarily involved in financial statement audits, financial reporting, and single audits. Andrew is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of Texas Tech University.

Program Timeline:
Our internship program spans 8 to 10 weeks of on-the-job experience and interaction with partners, staff, and clients. Interns will be given a 4-week review and a final review at the end of the internship. At the end of the internship, there may be an opportunity for full-time employment.

Required Experience and Skills:
Applicants must be classified as a sophomore or higher with a minimum of 16 hours of accounting classes.

All applicants must apply by sending their resumes to internships@daacg.com.  Applications for summer internships will be accepted from September 1st through January 31st if the summer applicant wishes to intern. Resumes sent outside of the timeline will not be considered.

All resumes will be reviewed by our program directors and interviews will be set up with the strongest applicants.
